تزفر المكتبة العربية بالعديد من الكتب والدراسات التي عنيت بتدوين الحوادث والوقائع الخاصة بالسيرة النبوية المحمدية، هذا ولا يكاد يخلو مصدر من هذه المصادر من الاضطراب، وخاصة فيما يتعلق بترتيب الوقائع والأحداث، لذلك كان لا بد من إعادة ترتيب وقائع السيرة النبوية وأحداثها بما ينسجن مع المنطق، ويعطي للقارئ الكريم صورة أوضح وأكثر تماسكاً وانسجاماً مع الواقع الذي جرت فيه تلك الأحداث.
وهذا الكتاب وضع خصيصاً لإعادة ترتيب أحداث السيرة النبوية، وليجمع ما بين المنهجين التاريخي والتحليلي في سرد الوقائع والأحداث دون إغفال ما تدعو الحاجة إليه من العبر والدروس، مع عنايته بما يلي: أولاً عدم إغفال البيئتين التاريخية والدينية نسبه الجزيرة العربية وما حولها، قبل البعثة وأخذهما بالاعتبار، لما لهما من أهمية في تسليط الضوء على الأحداث التي جرت بعد بعثة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ثانياً: تجنب الأخطاء التاريخية التي ارتكبها المؤرخون وأصحاب السير والمغازي، ثالثاً: تتبع الروايات التي اتفق العلماء على صحتها، مع العناية بذكر بعض الروايات التي أغفلها بعض الباحثين، نظراً لأهميتها في تسليط الضوء على شخصية رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ونهجه من الدعوة. رابعاً: اختصر بعض النصوص قدر الإمكان دون الإخلال بالمادة التاريخية، وحذف لبعض النصوص التاريخية وخاصة التي تتعلق بالسرايا الصغيرة، وغير المهمة. خامساً: ناقش أبرز الشبهات التي اتصلت بالسيرة النبوية الشريفة باختصار.
