خليل تقي الدين (1906-1987) هو كاتب وصحافي ودبلوماسي لبناني ساهم تعدّد مشاربه في إثراء نتاجه الأدبي شكلاً ومضموناً.
فهو لم يكتف بكتابة الأدب، بل طمح أيضاً إلى تجديده من خلال مساهمته، إلى جانب االياس أبو شبكة وغيره من الأدباءعام 1930 ، بتأسيس 'عصبة العشرة'، وهي حركة أدبية مجدّدة شنّت حرباً ضروس على الأساليب القديمة المتحجرة.
من أعماله: "عشر قصص من صميم الحياة": تحوي أخبار رجال ونساء عرفهم ويروي قصة كلّ واحد منهم في أفراحهم الاعدام.

ثلاثة مواقد لم تنطفئ في شيخ القصة اللبنانية إلا بانطفائه: الكلمة الأنيقة والتوق إلى التحرر واللبنانية الصافية.
فهو أديب كلاسيكي متقن الحبكة وسهل القراءة درس في المدارس منذ الأربعينات ولم يزل.
وهو ثائر على الجمود في العقل وفي التعبير، خاض معارك قاسية بوجه المتحذلقين في مطلع مسيرته الأدبية التي أنهاها بأول رواية بوليسية كتبت بالعربية بأسلوب أدبي رفيع، وناضل صادقاً ضد كل من كان يقف دون الحداثة والتطور.
مثّل بلاده سفيراً في كبريات عواصم العالم فكان من الدبلوماسيين اللبنانيين القلة الذين أتت على ذكرهم أقلام الباحثين ومذكرات السياسيين.
ولكنه كان يختصر نفسه بأنه فلاح وكاتب من لبنان.
