بدءاً من العنوان "أربعين الإمام الحسين والدرس المستفاد" وانتهاءً بآخر صفحة ازدانت بها صور الأديب الشاعر، الأستاذ الجامعي طاهر جاسم التميمي يجمع هذا الكتاب تجربة حيّة غنية في حقل الشعر الديني تجاوزت الثمانمائة بعد الألف من الأبيات كتبها الشاعر التميمي في حب آل بيت النبوة الكرام، وذكر الآل الأطهار والرسل والملائكة، وحب الذات الإلهية. قدم لها إبنه "تميم طاهر التميمي" باستهلال يتحدث عن حياة الشاعر وسيرته، وإسهاماته وإنجازاته التي أثرى بها ساحة الفكر الأدبي، على غير صعيد. بالإضافة إلى مقدمة أخرى للعلامة الدكتور حسين علي محفوظ يرى في إنتاج الشاعر التميمي عجائب وغرائب، وطرائف وشوارد وفرائد، تنبيك عناوينها عن مضامينها، وهي جميعاً تدل على اهتمام وإلمام، وإحاطة واستقصاء، وراءها من الذكاء والفطنة ما لم يتيسر لسواه ...".
وفي الكتاب قصيدة طويلة تتألف من 1800 بيت من الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى توزعت على صفحات الديوان جاءت كحالة شعرية تفتح أمام القارىء مجالاً خصباً للتأمل والتفكر والتدبر في حياة الإمام الحسين رضي الله عنه وآل بيت أهل النبوة الكرام، نقرأ منها:
أبا الأحرار يا درس السماء / ويا نبع الهداية ... والولاء ، ويا نور الحيا والناس فوضى / ولا دين لهم .. غير الرياء ، ويا عهد النبوة أنت فينا / بميثاق العدالة كالضياء (...)".
بهذا المعنى يرثي الشاعر إمامه، ببوح صامت، وقلب متألم، وشعر ملحمي شخصي طويل، وإحساس رفيع تمظهر في المفردة والصورة الشعرية، والإيقاع الدلالي، والمعاني البليغة ...
