مصنف هذا الكتاب هو محمد بن مفلح، أبو عبد الله، شمس الدين المقدسي الراميني ثم الصاعي أعلم أهل عصره بمذهب الإمام أحمد بن حنبل، شيخ الإسلام وأحد الأئمة الأعلام، ولد ونشأ في بيت المقدس، وتوفي بصالحية دمشق، سمع من عيسى المطعم وعلى يده تفقه فبرع في الفقه وفيه درّس وناظر وصنف. قال عنه الإمام الذهبي: "شاب دين عالم، ونظر في رجال السنن فناظر وسمع وكتب وتقدم". وقال ابن كثير: كان فاضلاً بارعاً متفنناً، وكان غاية في نقل مذهب الإمام أحمد".
وبين يدينا كتابه "الآداب الشرعية والمنح المرعية" وهو كتاب يضم جملة كثيرة من الآداب الشرعية، والمنح المرعية، جمعها المصنف من الكتاب والسنة وسيرة سلف الأمة. ومما تحدث عنه نذكر: "الخوف والصبر والرضا، البهت والغيبة والنميمة والخديعة والسخرية والاستهزاء، إباحة المعارضين ومحلها، القيان للقادم وأدب السنة ومراعاة العادة فيه، التثاؤب وما ينبغي فيه، خواص العدس، كراهية تعليق الأجراس والأوتار على الدواب والبهائم، وما تبعد عنه الملائكة، كراهة بيع الدار وإجارتها لمن يتخذها للكفر أو الفسق، دخول معابد الكفار والصلاة فيها وشهود أعيادهم، المفاضلة بين العزلة والمخالطة مقدار طول الثوب للرجل والمرأة وجر الذيول..
