أن يجمع أحد كل يحتويه التراث العربي من أشعار العشق فذلك غاية من الصعوبة، إن لم نقل أنه مستحيلاً، إلا أن غريد الشيخ "في معجم أشعار العشق" هذا قد اقتربت من غايته وحققت مبتغاها بعد سنين طويلة من البحث والتنقيب كللها بهذا المعجم الذي جمع فيه جل ما قاله الشعراء في العشق والحب، وقد رتبت معجمها أبجدياً بحسب البيت الأول في كل مجموعة من الشعر، وقد جاء عملها روعة في الاتقان والدقة ولا سيما أنها اعتمدت في عملها هذا على أمهات الكتب التراثية ككتاب الزهرة والظرف والظرفاء، واعتلال القلوب، والمصون في سر الهوى المكنون ومصارع العشاق وعدد كبير آخر لا يتسهان به من الكتب القيمة. وقد وضعت المؤلفة فهرساً للقوافي كل بيت من أبيات المعجم تسهيلاً لإيجاد البيت المطلوب. وأخيراً فالمعجم مرجع مهم إذ يوفر الجهد والوقت وهو ما ينشده كل باحث أو دارس.
