يقول المحقق في مقدمة هذا الكتاب أنه وبعد أن أخذ كتاب "فتاوى الأمة النجدية حول قضايا الأمة المصيرية" دوره ومكانه في المكتبات الإسلامية وبعد أن حقق المراد منه، من إظهار شمولية دعوة الإمام المجدد محمد بن عبد الوهاب، مع القيام بعرضها كمنهج متكامل، وتسليط الضوء على كافة أصولها وقواعدها، وبعد أن كثر الثناء على هذا الكتاب، من كثير من المشايخ والعلماء، وطلبة العلم، رأى المحقق ضرورة القيام بعمل مختصر للكتاب وذلك زيادة في فائدة هذا التراث العظيم واضعاً نصب عينيه منذ الوهلة الأولى للشروع في عمله عرض أصول الكتاب وقواعده، وردوده، ونتائجه، دون أي شائبة تدخُّل أو وصاية على ما قرر هؤلاء الأئمة الأعلام من أحكام وتقريرات، لتبقى بصماتهم عالية وكاملة وظاهرة عليها، فالأمة بحاجة ملحة إلى ما قرره الأئمة الأعلام. ولقد قام بتقسيم الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أبواب؛ الباب الأول: جاء في أصول التوحيد والإسلام والإيمان، والباب الثاني في: الشرك والمشركين. والباب الثالث في: الأحكام المترتبة على مفهوم التوحيد والشرك. هذا وكان أفراد المحقق للأحكام المترتبة على مفهوم التوحيد والشرك في جزء منفرد عن جزئي التوحيد والشرك، من أجل أن يتم الفصل التام بين القيام بالتويحد مع البراءة من الشرق، كعقيدة يجب القيام بها، ليتحقق بذلك أصل الدين، ويكون المرء مسلماً، وبين إجراء الأحكام المنبثق من تصور حدًّي التوحيد والشرك، وطبيعة العلاقة بينهما، حتى لا يأتي الخلط ويتم الربح بين تحقيق أصل الدين من جهة وإجراء الأحكام من جهة أخرى، ووضعهما معاً في سلة واحدة، من حيث التاصيل والتدليل، ودرجة المشروعية، ومن ثم تحلّ الطامة الكبرى المتمثلة في الغلو المذموم في التكفير وإخراج السواد الأعظم لجمهور المسلمين عن دينهم وملتهم، بلا دليل ولا برهان.
