في هذا الكتاب محاولة لقراءة أحداث ومنعكسات (الحادي عشر من أيلول/سبتمبر)، وذلك من خلال استقراء عدد في أهم المفكرين العرب ينتمون إلى اتجاهات فكرية مختلفة (إسلامية... قومية... ماركسية..) قراءة هذا الحدث بعد مضي عام على وقوعه، وانعكاسه على العالمين العربي والإسلامي... واستشراق أولويات الخطاب العربي عامة والإسلامي خاصة في ظل هذه الهجمة التي يتعرض لها... مروراً بمستقبل العلاقات بين الإسلام والغرب.. ودور المثقفين العرب في صياغة هذه العلاقة.. وصولاً غلى مستقبل الصراع العربي- الصهيوني.. والتهديدات الأمريكية بضرب العراق أو غيرها من الدول العربية والإسلامية.
انشغل العالم كله بأحداث 11 أيلول 2001 وما بعدها انشغالاً لم يعرف له مثيل من قبل، وحسمت أمريكا على أضوائها علاقاتها بالآخرين، "من لم يكن معنا فهو ضدنا".
وكان نصيب العالمين العربي والإسلامي من التأثر السلبي بهذه الأحداث واسعاً، فوضعت شعوبهما وثقافتهما في قفص الاتهام، واستهدفت مؤسساتهما وأنظمتهما التعليمية وجمعياتهما الخيرية ومصالحهما الاقتصادية بذريعة مكافحة الإرهاب وتجفيف ينابيعه.
وإزاء هذا نتساءل: ما موقف المتهمين بالإرهاب؟!
في هذا الكتاب لقاءات مع كبار المفكرين وحوارات معهم، تلقي أضواء مهمة على الموضوع.
