في هذا الكتاب يتوجه "عواض بن محمد القرشي" إلى القائمين على تدريس اللغة العربية بالمملكة، ويفتح باباً جديداً للتعامل مع تدريس اللغة العربية، من خلال النقاش الذي يفضي إلى نتيجة علمية مدروسة لأن اللغة العربية هي رسالة لا وظيفة، وأداء عمل فقط، وعلى هامش هذا الطرح نرى الكاتب يجول في القديم في إطار شعرية "شوقي" من خلال رسالته الثانية "قدح زناد الفكر" والتي تحملت عنواناً أثيراً يدعو إلى مراجعة النظر تجاه تراثنا ومحاولة إعادة ترتيب الأشياء من جديد، كذلك نجد الكاتب يقرأ التاريخ قراءة خاصة في محاولة جريئة للكشف عن رموز لم تنل قدرها بالقدر الكافي مثل أبي حيان التوحيدي. وإذا ما تعمقنا أكثر في الكتاب نرى الكاتب يضع معادلاً موضوعياً في رسالته الأخيرة في موضوع "نيوتن وتفاحته" ويدرسها من خلال نقاط محددة، مفسراً لنا علاقة الذكاء بالعبقرية، والفرق بين الإنسان العبقري والعادي، ويختتم مؤلَفه بنص جميل عن "الوردي" ما نصه: "... فالمجاملات الإجتماعية تفيد الإنسان إذ هي تعطيه عن تفسه صورة جميلة لكي يندفع في عمله الإجتماعي راغباً... ولا خير في حياة يصارح الناس فيها بعضهم بعضاً ويلقى أحدهم الحقيقة المرة في وجه الآخر...".
يضم الكتاب ثلاثة أوراق عمل: (الورقة الأولى) اللغة العربية... الواقع.. والمأمول؛ (الورقة الثانية) قدح زناد الفكر.. نحو فكر متجدد..، (الورقة الثانية): رؤية مختلفة.. من زوايا مختلفة. يلي ذلك (الملحق (1)): نظرية الدكتور الدنان، وتجربته في تعليم اللغة العربية الفصحى بالفطرة والممارسة، و(الملحق (2)) نموذج من شعر البند للشاعر علي أبابيل.
