محمد سعيد القشاط (ولد عام 1942)في بلدة الجوش) حصل على إجازة التدريس العامة من معهد المعلمين بطرابلس 1959, وعلى دبلوم الصحافة العالي من جامعة القاهرة 1963, وعلى الدكتوراة من جامعة المجر 1986. عمل بالتدريس من عام 1959إلى 1969, ثم بالصحافة حتى عام 1976, وتولى فيها مناصب كان آخرها إدارة المؤسسة العامة للصحافة، كما عمل مديراً لمركز شؤون الصحراء، ثم سفيراً لبلاده في الرياض.

يروي الكتاب وقائع جهاد الليبيين ضد فرنسا بتسلسل منطقي مبتدءاً بالقبائل الليبية، وجهاد الليبيين ضد فرنسا منذ البداية إلى الآن، ومن ثم اشتعال الصحراء ابان الحرب العالمية الاولى وفي النهاية يتحدث عن أبرز الشخصيات الليبية التي ساهمت في تنظيم وتطوير هذا الجهاد الذي خاضته قبائل الصحراء.
