"من سينا إلى موآب" هذا هو عنوان الجزء الرابع من المجموعة الكتابية، يتطرق إلى سفر العدد وسفر التثنية أو تثنية الاشتراع.
من سيناء، عالم البرية والبدو، إلى موآب، عالم الأرض والزراعة، سينتقل العبرانيون من حياة إلى حياة، ومن حالة إلى حالة. لهذا لا بد أن يتكيف التشريف والقوانين مع الحياة الجديدة التي يعيشونها.
في سيناء قدم موسى شريعته إلى شعبه فنظم لهم حياتهم، وعبرت هذه الشريعة العصور وتكيفت مع الأيام. وبعد أن اختلط العبرانيون بالكنعانيون بالكنعانيين الذين سبقوهم أشواطاً في الحضارة، كان لا بد من اتخاذ موقف: هل يترك الشعب الآتي من الصحراء عادات أخذها من آبائه وأجداده؟ هل يقبل بأن يأخذ بنظم شعوب متحضرة ولكنها تدين بالوثنية؟ رفض اللاويون بادئ الأمر هذه الحياة الجديدة وفيها ما فيها من مخاطر اندماج وخسران هوية. أما شريعة موآب فقطعت الطريق على حياة البداوة وما فيها من أحلام تعود بالشعب إلى حياة من السعادة في البرية تشبه حياة العروس مع عريسها، وقدمت للشعب مثال حب جديد: علاقة الشعب بربه. أحب الرب العبرانيين وقدّم لهم هذه الأرض الطيبة، فما بقي على العبرانيين إلا أن يقابلوا الحب بالحب ويمارسوا شريعة جديدة، هي شريعة المحبة.
"من سيناء إلى موآب" طريق طويلة سيقطعها بنو إسرائيل فيعبرون البرية ويستعدون للدخول إلى أرض الميعاد. هذا هو المعنى الحرفي. وهناك المعنى الرمزي وهو يدلنا على طريق أخرى تقود الشعب منذ أيام يشوع والقضاة إلى زمن الملوك وعلى عتبة الذهاب إلى المنفى.
