التطرف والجهل والتخلف إنغماس في عالم الظلمة، عالم يأكل فيه القوى الضعيف، ويتمرد الصغير على الكبير، ويسلب فيه الحق بالباطل، تكثر فيه الجريمة، يصبح القتل عادةً، لا يعرف القاتل لما يقتُل.
اخترت هذا البحث نظراً للواقع المرير الذي تعيشه أمتنا اليوم، حيث حل الجهل والتخلف محل العلم والمعرفة، وأصبح المجتمع في ظل ضياع شبه كامل لتقاليدنا، وعاداتنا السامية التي نشأنا عليها، فسادت الفرقة بين الأهل والأقارب والأصحاب، وتغلبت الأنانية والمصلحة الخاصة والشهوة على المرؤة والنخوة والإحسان، كما ظهرت الفتاوى العشوائية من وهنا وهناك ودون دليل وبتفسير خاطئ من نص أو سنة.
وأهمية البحث: تسليط الضوء على ما يجري من هدم للقيم الإنسانية والديمقراطية، وتعاليم الدين الحنيف برسائله السماوية السمحة من التوراة والإنجيل، إلى القرآن الكريم وما أوحى فيه لخاتم النبيين والصديقين محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم.
اعتمد الكاتب منهجي البحث التحليلي والوصفي لواقع الحال، وما آلت إليه المجتمعات الإسلامية والعربية من تفكك وتشرذم، حتى أصبحت الأمة ببلدانها الإسلامية والعربية، أتباعاً بدلاً من أن تتكون هي المركز بل في مؤخرة الركب الحضاري.
