حاولنا في هذه الدراسة القصيرة أن ننتقل من السؤال الشائع : ماذا؟ إلى السؤال المأمول: كيف؟ وبالانتقال من الماذا إلى الكيف ننتقل من العقيدة إلى المنهجية. والمنهجية وحددها تستطيع دفع المعرفة أماما، وانقاذ الفن، أي فن، من الابتذال. لا يكفي أن نعرف ماذا قال يحيى حقي في "قنديل أم هاشم" لكن المطلوب والضروري أن نعرف كيف قال. السؤال عن الكيف يدفع إلى وضع اليد على التقنيات السردية الموظفة، من غير وعي غالبا، لأن هذه تتأسس لوحدها وفق طبيعة الحكاية وطبيعة السياق المعرفي الذي كتب فيه النص. حللنا رواية كتبت في نهاية ثلاثينات هذا القرن، بكل ما زخرت به هذه الفترة التي هي فترة التحولات الكبرى في الثقافة وفي المجتمع وفي الذهنيات. وأن نسائل تقنيات الكتابة أجدى من أن نسائل مقول النص لأن الشكل كف عن أن يكون بريئا منذ زمن بعيد، ولأن الرهان هو الانتقال من القراءة الطامسة إلى القراءة العامة.
