هذا الكتاب بدأ بالفيزياء التقليدية فيزياء نيوتن ومكسويل وانتهاء بلورنس. ثم عرج على عرض تلك المرحلة الذهبية من عصر العلم في القرن العشرين فكان أن مثل الميكانيك الكوانتي ببناء كان قد اكتمل على يد أؤلئك العلماء حضروا مؤتمر سولفي الخامس للفيزياء المشهور وذلك عام 1927. حيث دعي إليه عباقرة الفيزياء في ذلك الوقت. أما الموضوع المطروح فهو مناقشة الميكروفيزياء الميكانيك الكمي أو الكوانتي. وكان الطابق الأرضي قد أسس على يد كل من بلاك وأنيشتين وبور وذلك على أسس صلبة من الميكانيك التقليدي. ثم أتى المهندسون المعماريون وكانوا يشكلون فريقين يضم الأول منهما دوبري وشردنفر, والثاني هايرنبرغ وبورن وديراك وذلك ليؤسسوا فوق الطابق الأرضي فنيين يضاهي كل منهما الآخر بالتصميم. ثم أتى بورليفوج هذا البناء بقبة مدهشة عكست الرؤيا المتألقة وغير المتوقعة عن العالم. ويتابع الكتاب بإسهاب وصفاً تحليلياً علمياً للأدوار التي قام بها دوبردي وهايزنبرغ و شردنفر مؤسسو هذا العلم كل حسب وجهة نظره ليلتقوا جميعاً تحت عنوان واحد و هو الميكانيك الكوانتي وباختصار فقد توصل دوبردي الى أن كل جسم أو مادة يلازمها موجة. وهايزنبرغ انطلق من الحالات الكوانتية وذلك من استنتاجه بأن يمكن معرفة كل شيء عن الشعاع الصادر عن الذرة إذا تمكن المرء من حساب القيم الطاقية التي يمكن للذرة أن تأخذها. أما شرودنفر فقد كشف النقاب عن ذلك التقابل الرائع ما بين أمواج دوبردي وأموجه هو.
ويحتوي الكتاب على الفصول التالية: غمامتان سوداوان صغيرتان. الكوانتا تقحم الفيزياء. المعادلات تعرف أكثر مما نعرف. لا تبحث عن شيء خلف الحقائق. الله شديد المحال و لكنه خير. وهذا الكتاب بعتبر من الكتب المهمة من أجل الوقوف على المبادئ الأساسية في المعلوماتية والحاسوب والإلكترون والفضاء.
