إن النطق الصحيح بالكلام يدخل بالإنسان إلى عقول الآخرين وقلوبهم دخولاً سريعاً واضحاً. فلا تضطرب المعاني عند المتكلم والسامع, ولا يضيق أي منهما بالفهم أو الإفهام. فإن كان النطق الصحيح جميلاً صار التواصل بين الناس باللغة فناً وجمالاً. ولأن اللغة وعاء الفكر البشري فإن صحة وجمال النطق دليل رقي الأمة ومقياس درجة حضارتها. ولا شك أن النطق الصحيح الجميل يقوم على النظام والترتيب. ولا يتحقق النظام والترتيب إلا بمجموعة من الأصول والقواعد التي تعارف عليها الناطقون بلغة من اللغات ويتبادلون الكلام بها. وهذه القواعد تصلح لكل المتكلمين. ثم ينفرد كل نوع منهم بقواعد خاصة بفئة في الكلام. ويحاول هذا الكتاب أن يجمل هذه القواعد العامة لفن الكلام. ثم يفرد فن الممثل بقواعد إلقائه الخاصة به. حيث يبدأ الكتاب ببحث الصوت وينتهي بإسدال الستارة على نهاية العرض المسرحي.
