في مجموعتها القصصية "رأسي مستعار" تشتغل "إيمان فضل" على التاريخ الاجتماعي للناس ولعل هذا النوع الأدبي هو الأكثر ملاءمة للتعبير عن درجة التشابك والتعقيد في العلاقات الاجتماعية على أنواعها، وما تنطوي عليه من آثار على حياة الأفراد، فالقصة عندها تعيش زمانها ومكانها وتتفاعل مع هموم الناس اليومية والذاتية لتعبر عن حالات إنسانية شفافة ما يجعل كل نص قابلاً لاحتمال الاعترافات والسيرة الذاتية. ففي القصة التي عنونت بها المؤلفة المجموعة "رأسي مستعار" يبدو سؤال الكتابة هاجس المؤلفة الأول وعبره تتطرق إلى خاصية الكتابة وهدفها في مسابقات القصة القصيرة. فكل ما يحتاجه القاص "لكتابة قصة قلم لا يهم قيمته ودفتر ورأس متعطش للفكرة". فإذا كنت بلا رأس فلا داعي لأن تكتب قصة. هذه الكلمات تذكرتها عندما بدأ الأستاذ محاضرته أمام من يريد أن يشترك في المسابقة: "الكتابة عملية جرح ونبش.. قد لا تفضحك الكلمات أحياناً بقدر ما تفضحنا أحياناً مسافة بين كلمة وأخرى تقول أسراراً، ما كنَا نبغي أن تباح للأعين! تفضحنا أصوات صمتنا وأنين سكوننا بين الفتحة والضمة، لكأن الصمت اغتيال وكأن الهمس ولادة للإخفاق". وعلى هذا المنوال تسير بقية قصص المجموعة تكتشف معها الحياة المنبعثة من أدق التفاصيل وهي تنقل لنا صوراً من الحياة ونبضها تجسد مرور الإنسان في هذا العالم.
يضم الكتاب اثنتي عشرة قصة قصيرة نذكر من عناوينها: "الوظيفة المهندس"، "بلا ملامح"، "رأسي مستعار"، "الهلال"، "منبع الشمع"، "الثابت الوحيد"، "فتات الأمل"...الخ.
قد لا تفضحك الكلمات أحياناً بقدر ما تفضحنا أحياناً مسافة بين كلمة وأخرى تقول أسراراً، ما كُنَّا نبغي أن تـُباح للأعين، تَفضحنا أصوات صمتنا و أنين سكوننا بين الفتحة والضمة، لكأن الصمت اغتيال و كأن الهمس ولادة للإخفاق!"
