وفي هذا الكتاب دراسة شاملة تجمع بين فكرة الأسطورة وكتابة التاريخ موزعة على فصول ومباحث، حيث انتظمت الدراسة في الفصول التالية: الفصل الأول: "تحديد المفاهيم والمصطلحات العلمية"، الفصل الثاني: "أساطير من الأمم والشعوب"، اختارها المؤلف من وادي الرافدين واليمن ومصر واليونان والهند وذلك للتشابه الفكري الأسطوري بين هذه الأمم والشعوب، الفصل الثالث: "نظريات علم الأساطير" وهي ثلاثة، الأولى: نظرية الأنثروبولوجية والثانية النظرية التاريخية والثالثة النظرية الجغرافية، الفصل الرابع: "الأساطير بعد ظهور الإسلام - وكان في ثلاثة مباحث"، الأول: الأساطير في القرآن الكريم"، والثاني: "يهتم بموضوع الأساطير عند العرب المسلمين"، والثالث: "كان عن بداية التدوين التاريخي عند العرب المسلمين".
