يضم هذا الكتاب بين دفتيه بعض الدراسات والبحوث التي أعدها المؤلف بحكم تخصصه المهني وخبرته الوظيفية ونشرت في الدوريات المختصة أو قدمت إلى المؤتمرات والندوات التي كانت المكتبات موضوع بحثها الرئيس ويشتمل الكتاب على تسع دراسات، تتناول الدراستان الأوليتان دور المكتبة في العملية التعليمية والتربوية، فتختص الدراسة الأولى بدور مكتبة المدرسة الابتدائية في تحقيق استراتيجية تطوير التعليم والوسائل والأساليب التي تتبعها في ذلك.
أما الدارسة الثانية فتختص بدور المكتبة المدرسية في تنمية مهارات القراءة والاطلاع لدى التلاميذ والطلاب. وتركز الدراسات الثلاث التالية على مجموعات المواد التي تعد الركيزة الأساسية للخدمات المكتبية، فتتناول الدراسة الثالثة مجموعات المواد بالمكتبات المدرسية وكيفية بنائها وتنميتها وتقيميها، وتتناول الدراسة الرابعة المواد السمعية والبصرية باعتبارها مجموعة متميزة من التعليمية الإجرائية، وتتناول ثانيتهما مهارات تتناول المعلومات لدى المعلمين وأهمية تزويدهم بها خلال إعدادهم المهنى، أو من خلال برامج التدريب أثناء الخدمة، وتتناول الدراسة الأخيرة (التاسعة) تقييم الخدمة المكتبية المدرسية ككل وطرق التقييم التي تتبع.
