ابن الجَزَرِي، شمس الدين (751 - 833 هـ ، 1350 - 1429م).
محمد بن محمد بن محمد بن علي ابن يوسف أبو الخير شمس الدين العمري الدمشقي ثم الشيرازي الشافعي، المشهور بابن الجزري، شيخ الإقراء في زمانه. ولد ونشأ في دمشق وأنشأ فيها مدرسة سماها دار القرآن ونسبته إلى جزيرة ابن عمر. ورحل إلى مصر مرارًا، ودخل بلاد الروم وسافر مع تيمورلنك إلى بلاد ما وراء النهر، ثم رحل إلى شيراز، فولي قضاءها، ومات فيها.
من مؤلفاته: النشر في القراءت العشر؛ غاية النهاية في طبقات القراء؛ نهاية الدرايات في أسماء رجال القراءات؛ التمهيد في علم التجويد؛ فضائل القرآن؛ سلاح المؤمن، في الحديث.

مرت على الدراسات القرآنية قرون طويلة منذ أن تفتحت أذهان علماء المسلمين على قراءة القرآن والغوص في أعماقه لاستخراج ما فيه من كنوز، وقد كان لحثّ القرآن والرسول الأعظم (ص) ورجالات الإسلام الأوائل الأثر الكبير في دفع تلك الأجيال المتعاقبة إلى البحث والتأليف.
وقد تنوّعت تلك الدراسات وتسابق إليها العلماء مما أثرى المكتبة العربية بتراث ضخم من الكتب والموسوعات التي كان للقرآن الأثر الكبير في مادتها.
إن الدراسة القرآنية المتخصصة، التي تأخذ جانباً محدداً من القرآن فتوجه الجهد الكبير والمتواصل إليه، تؤدي إلى نتائج وثمرات قد لا تتمكن الدراسات العامة الشاملة من الوصول إليها؛ لأن تحديات مجال الجهد وتضييقه سيؤدي قطعاً إلى توجيه الفكر في ذلك المجال واستعمال ذكاء الدارس وإخلاصه فيه مما يفتح أمامه الآفاق لخدمة هدفه المحدد الواضح.
لقد سلك الشيخ ابن الجزري في كتابه هذا "كفاية الألمعي" المسلك المحدد الضيق، حيث جعل هذه الآية القرآنية الكريمة-على قلة ألفاظها-مداراً لبحثه الطويل طارقاً كلّ باب من أبواب الفنون التي رأى مجالاً للآية فيها.
