ويعتبر نهج البلاغة كتاب شمل للآداب والأخلاق وتهذيب النفس، والتاريخ والسير، والإقتصاد والسياسة، والبلاغة والنحو، وشارحا لما أنهم من أسرار كتاب الله العزيز وشرح مفردطات آياته وألفاظه.
كان لنهج البلاغة هذه الخصوصيات لأنه كلام فوق كلام المخلوقين ودون كلام الخالق، نعم هو جوهر من معدن علم الله وأسراره، قال أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام "بل اندمجت على مكنون علم لو بحت به لاضطربتم اضطراب الأرشية في الطوى البعيدة".
ففيه الكثير من العلوم وأصولها، بأفضل أسلوب وأبلغ منطق.
وقد صرح بذلك كثير من المفكرين من المسلمين وغيرهم.
فأصبح من يريد الأخلاق والآداب ينهل من معين نهج البلاغة، ومن يريد أسرار الصلاة والصوم والحج والعبادة والطاعة يأتي إلى الكلام الإلهي في نهج البلاغة.
وكذلك من يريد التاريخ والسياسة فإن مراده في الفيض الرباني والمنح الملكوتي في كلام النور الثاني نور علي بن أبي طالب صلوات المصلين عليه.
فاهتم العلماء من أجل ذلك بشرح هذا الفيض النوراني، فبينوا مراد أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام وأوضحوا لنا ما أبهم من معانيه وألفاظه.
ولأهمية هذا الشرح القيم لنهج البلاغة للمتبحر المؤرخ ابن أبي الحديد. اعتنى بتحقيقه ومراجعته السيد علي عاشور لينتفع به المسلم.
