يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن حياة عائشة "أم المؤمنين" رضي الله عنها، مكانتها في الإسلام، وأبرز صفاتها، فهي تعدَ من كبار حفاظ السَنَة من الصحابة، ولقد اعتبرها المحققون في المرتبة الخامسة في حفظ الحديث وروايته بعد "أبي هريرة" و"ابن عمر" و"أنس بن مالك" و"ابن عباس" –رضي الله عنهم – لكن "عائشة" تمتاز عنهم بأن معظم الأحاديث التي روتها، قد تلققفتها مباشرة من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم... وبهذا انفردت رضي الله عنها برواية أحاديث لم يروها غيرها.
في هذا الكتاب يجمع "محمود شلبي" كل أحاديث أم المؤمنين التي وردت عنها، وأصدقها حديثاً وهي مما أخرجها البخاري ومسلم في صحيحهما، ومن الكتب المعتبرة، والروايات الشريفة والأحداث التي كانت رضي الله عنها طرفاً في حياة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم وبعد مماته.
