يشكّل كتاب "ثمة ما يبقى وثمة ما يزول" سيرة ذاتية – نفسية للكاتبة أمية حمدان القيسي. جاءت على صورة يوميات ما بين 1981 و 2005، تسجل من خلاله تجربتها الأدبية والحياتية خلال ربع قرن من العمل الدؤوب في الفن والأدب والمسرح، ذلك أن أمية اشتغلت على النص الروائي، كما اشتغلت على النص المسرحي. وكذلك النقد المعمق للشعر والمسرح والفن ... ومع ذلك لا ينتمي هذا العمل إلى المقاربة القصصية أو الروائية. وهو لا علاقة له بالمذكرات رغم وجود هذا النظام ( الكرونولوجي) والتأريخي. ثم أنه ليس نصاً شاعرياً. لذلك فهو فعلاً وكما يصفه النقاد "النص الآخر" الذي يتأكد ضمن سياق الفكر والعاطفة. أو بالأحرى يكمن في الفسحة التي تفصل ما بين العقل والقلب. هنا في هذه اليوميات تنوء أمية حمدان بحملها الثقيل وتكتب عن كل ما حدث لها وما سيحدث. فتسرح بنظرها عبر النافذة المؤطرة بالعريش الأخضر فتبحث من خلال الخضرة عن بقية حلم أو بداية حلم يغسل عينها بالنور فيفيض اللون وتتزاوج الألوان. فنصوص أمية لوحات نفسية – إستشرافية في أكثر تجلياتها عمقاً.
تكتب أمية وعينها على اللامرئي في (5/9/2003) مما حفلت به يومياتها، تلاحظ أن الستائر المتدلية من شرفات الأبنية المقابلة في الشقة التي سكنتها تتحرك بفعل الهواء، فتقرر أن اللامرئي يحرك المرئي، فتتساءل: من أين تأتي الريح؟ وكيف تهب؟ أهي الحقول المغناطيسية تنظم المسار عبر الفوضى المباغتة لتزرع فيها اليقظة؟
على هذا النحو تخلع الكاتبة على الطبيعة بُعداً تأملياً يردّ إلى قوى الطبيعة، أفعال الوجود، فيكون كتابها بمثابة إعلان حقيقي عن ثنائية الإيقاع الحياتي المتعارف عليه جمعياً وتاريخياً ونفسياً كحالة قائمة في الحياة في وسط لامتناه في المطلق المكاني والزماني معاً.
