"الحديقة الخَربَة" عمل روائي للكاتب المكسيكي خورجي قولبي، نقلها إلى العربية اسكندر حبش، تحكي الرواية من خلال مسارين سرديين متوازيين قصتين مختلفتين جداً، تتقاطع فيها أحداث العراق الأخيرة مع أحداث المنفى الذي عاشه الروائي قبل عودته إلى المكسيك، تبدو في الرواية قصة ليلى – وهي امرأة عراقية فقدت عائلتها خلال الحرب، بالتوازي مع قصة الراوي، شخص مكسيكي يعيش في المنفى، وهي شخصية تشبه الكاتب الحقيقي، وهكذا تتقاطع سيرة الراوي مع بطلة القصة، فيبدو العمل أقرب إلى السيرة الذاتية.
تحمل الرواية ذكريات عن عودة الراوي إلى المكسيك، في مزج بين قصة هذا المرأة الشابة العراقية مع حكايته هو الشخصية، والمرأة هي في الحقيقة صورة رآها الكاتب لشابة عراقية قتلت في بغداد خلال الغزو الأميركي، فقرر أن يكتب عنها، وإلى جانب ليلى / الشابة العراقية والالم الذي تجسده، يقدم الكاتب شخصية آنا، وهي صورة نسائية أخرى، تتعذب بدورها، وإن كان ذلك بشكل مختلف.
فالألم الذي تتعرض له ليلى، وهو ناتج عن التاريخ السياسي في بلادها، يتراءى للكاتب "أهم وأعمق من الألم الحميمي، وهو الألم النمطي الذي يصيب الشابات في المكسيك"، وقد وضع الكاتب هذان الألمان على حدّ قوله مع بعضهما ليثبت أنه "من المستحيل مقاسمة أي شكل من أشكال الألم، حتى وإن كان بإستطاعتنا التمييز بين مختلف أشكال الألم...".
تتألف الرواية من وحدات سردية تغلب عليها اللغة الشعرية، لتشكل بذلك علامة فارقة في مسار الرواية المكسيكية، والتجديد في الحركة الأدبية في العقود الأخيرة.
