"جيرار جينيت" مسيرة شعرية تعرّف نفسها بوصفها شعرية منفتحة على إمكانيات الأدب والأشكال الخيالية لمشروعات أدبية غير ممكنة ولكنها إيحائية Revelatrice، ومفتوحة أيضاً على الرهانات التطبيقية بوصفها تتجاوز النصّ لتهتم بتعاليه وبتأثيره كذلك، ومفتوحة أيضاً على مجالات أخرى، ضمن حركة امتداد تتوسع من خلالها في الجمالية. ويعد الناقد الفرنسي "جيرار جينيت" (1930م) من أهمّ النقاد الذين أثروا في الحياة الثقافية والأدبية في العالم، ولا سيما في أوروبا.
نشر جيرار جينيت كتابه الأول (أشكال I) عام 1966، و(أشكال II) 1969، حيث حاول أن يؤسس فيها نظريته في الشعرية معتمداً بصورة أساسية على الأساس الذي انطلق منه البنيويون وهو اللغة. وفي كتابه الثالث (أشكال III) الذي نشره عام 1972، أكّد على الخطاب السردي ضمن قدراته وحدوده، ومغامراته، وقد اختار للقيام بعمله هذا رواية (البحث عن الزمن الضائع)، ورأى فيها المثال النموذجي للسرد الكلاسيكي. ويشكل كتابه (Minologiques) عام 1976 نقطة هامة في مسيرته النقدية عندما بدأ يهتم بصورة أساسية بالكلمات، ويتساءل إذا كان للكلمات أن تشكل صورة عن الأشياء. وقام في كتابه (طروس، 1982) بعملية جرد للأعمال الأدبية التي تستند إلى أعمال أدبية أخرى، سواء عبر محاكاتها أم عبر تحويلها، في حين أن كتابه (عتبات، 1987) يهتم كثيراً بما يسميه جينيت (Paratextes-مرافقات النص) في موازاة ذلك يعدّ عمل (عودة إلى خطاب الحكاية، 1983) مراجعة نقدية على كتابه خطاب الحكاية، وهو جزء من (أشكال III) وإضافة من موضوعة السرد، يرصد جديد السرديات في الفترة ما بين الكتابين. ويكاد عمله الأخير (أشكال IV، 1999) يتوج حياته الأدبية والنقدية والتنظيرية.
وعلى ضوء أعمال جينيت النقدية هذه، كانت هذه الدراسة التي تتوطد في ثناياها دعائم هذا الاتجاه النقدي الذي أرسى دعائمه هذا الناقد الفرنسي، والغاية من إفادة هذه الدراسة كل من يعمل في مجال النقد الأدبي سواء كان باحثاً متخصصاً أم طالباً يشقّ طريقه ضمن مجال لا يفتح أبوابه المغلقة من أو في المعرفة والصبر والمثابرة في العمل.
