يدرس هذا الكتاب نظرية دارون التي ابتدعها عن أصل الخليقة، وملخصها أن الإنسان لم يخلق إنساناً منذ البداية، وإنما تطور عبر ملايين السنين إلى شكله المألوف، ماراً بأطور خليقة أدنى، مروراً بالقردة وإنتهاءً بمخلوقات سفلى ربما كانت ديداناً أو حشرات.
وقد وجد الملحدون في نظرية دارون مدداً يرفد إلحادهم بدليل زعموا أنه دليل علمي لا يرقى إليه شك، وانطلقوا بسلاحهم الجديد، وتحت مظلة العلم، يشددون هجمتهم ضد الإيمان، والمؤمنين.
ومضت السنون، وبمرورها كانت الضجة التي أثارها الملحدون حول نظرية دارون قد خفتت شيئاً فشيئاً وبدأ الناس يسمعون أصواتاً معارضةً لنظرية دارون يطلقها علماء مرموقون، وأصبح الذين انبهروا بنظرية دارون يعيدون النظر فيها على ضوء معطيات العلم الحديث، وشهدت نظرية دارون في العقدين الأخيرين مزيداً من المعارضة، وتناقصاً في عدد المؤيدين ولم يعد بريقها يخطف الأبصار والعقول.
لذلك يتبع المؤلف الفرضيات التي بنى دارون عليها نظريته حيث تبين أنها فرضيات تعتمد على أدلة "غيبية" لا يوجد أي دليل حسي على وجودها، وقد عُرِّف دارون بحسب آراء معظم أساتذته ورأي ابنه، في أن دارون كان متسرعاً في القفز إلى النتائج دون أن تكتمل لديه الأدلة على صحة إستنتاجاته وأنه كان يتمتع بغريزة خاصة لإقتناص الإستثناء.
