يحاول إسلام سمحان، في مجموعته "هي لا تجلس وحيدة"، أن يكتب قصيدة خاصّة تمسّ أشياء الحياة الصغيرة الّتي تحتل الشارع والبيت والمدرسة ومشية الإنسان المغترب، الّذي يتوهّم العالم أكثر ممّا يعيشه.
غير أنّ هذه الأشياء الصغيرة تنفتح، بلغة ومضيّة، على عوالم الإنسان الداخليّة المحتملة، الّتي تستدعي رغبات عالية الصوت وعصيّة التحقق، فوراء شظايا الحياة، الّتي ترى ناقصة، يتراءى القلق والعشق والحيرة وشجن واسع على شيء لا يظهر تماماً.
"هي لا تجلس وحيدة" حوار مع الكتابة وإمكانيّات اللغة، تمسّ العالم المرئيّ، وتضيف إليه عالماً يوازيه ولا يتقاطع معه، وتحاول أن تشتقّ من العالمين إيحاءً يحول المعروف والمألوف إلى أسئلة.
لا تتمثل قيمة هذه المحاولة في "إنتاج القصيدة"، بل في إعلانها المجتهد والصادق عن صعوبة كتابة القصيدة.
