يقع كتاب (الميزان) لمؤلفه الطباطبائي في (8041) صفحة، وقد طبع حتى الآن ثلاث مرات، كما ترجم إلى اللغة الفارسية، وقد بدأ المفسر / الطباطبائي بإلقائه محاضرات على طلابه في جامعة (قم) الدينية في إيران ... حتى صدر الجزء الأول من الميزان عام 1956م. وتوالت الأجزاء الأخرى في الصدور حتى اكتمل في عشرين مجلداً، وتأتي أهمية هذا الكتاب من كثرة ما عرض فيه مؤلفه من آراء وأقوال للمفسرين وغيرهم، وتعرضه لها بالمناقشة، فكان كثيراً ما يوازن ويرجح بين الآراء السابقة عليه في الموضع الواحد مؤيداً لبعضها ورافضاً للبعض الآخر، وهو يتولى بيانه محقق الكتاب الأستاذ علي أوسي في هذه الدراسة عن (الطباطبائي ومنهجه في تفسيره الميزان) تناول فيها عصر الطباطبائي وحياته وثقافته، والحالة السياسية أو البيئة التي عاش في كنفها الطباطبائي (النجف الأشرف) ، ثم المصادر التفسيرية التي اعتمدها المؤلف (الكتب المقدسة، ومصادره التاريخية، والمعارف العامة، والإعلام، والجرائد والمجلات)، كما تناول منهج الطباطبائي في التفسير، ومنها تفسير القرآن بالقرآن، وموارد استخدام المفسر لهذه القاعدة في التفسير، و (التفسير بالسُّنة) ومدى اعتماد المفسر على السّنة في بيان معاني الآيات، ثم بيان لموقفه من أقوال الصحابة والتابعين، ورفضه للإسرائيليات (...)، وفي الدراسة أيضاً تعرض المؤلف لعقائد الإمامية وموقف الطباطبائي منها ومنبهاً إلى مسلكه التفسيري فيها، ومشيراً إلى آراء أهل السّنة وأهل الإعتزال في كثير من العقائد ...
