جاء هذا الكتاب المتخصص في فقه اللغة "تحاوُرُ اللغةِ والحياة" - لأن اللغة لا تنمو إلاّ بالتحاور مع الحياة؛ تعبّر عمّا في الحياة من قديم ومن مُبتكر جديد، والحياةُ تحفز اللغة أو - العباقرة من أهل اللغة - على أن يُوَلّدوا ألفاظاً جديدة للمعاني الجديدة - بطرق مختلفة منها: "الإشتقاقُ - بطرقِهِ المختلفة"، "والتعريبُ، على ألاّ يكثُرَ"، "والدخيلُ، على أن يكون قليلاً جدّاً"، "وتحملُ الألفاظ القديمة معانيَ جديدة"، "وإستخدام المجاز، لحمل معانٍ جديدة"، "وإستخدام التشبيه كذلك".
وقد أصبحت الحياة الحاضرة مائجة بالجديد وبالمعاني الجديدة، ودعا ذلك إلى إشتقاق أو توليد - ألفاظٍ جديدةٍ، ليست في المعاجم، ولولا هذا التوليد والإشتقاق، لجمدت اللغة، وتجاوزتها الحياة.
ولكن ذلك قاد بعض علماء اللغة (غير المتبحرين في فقهها) إلى أن يخطئو كلَّ ما لم يرِدْ في المعاجم، والمعاجمُ... تحوي أصول الألفاظ وبعض المشتقات، ولذا لا يُعتمد عليها كثيراً، في البحث من ألْفاظ جديدة للمعاني الجديدة، وإنما هذا يعتمد على توليد الأدباء والكتّاب للألفاظ، مُسْتلهمين، طبيعة اللغة، وما يُولّدونهُ لا يأتي معظمه من المعاجم، وإنما من إستيحائهم لفطرة اللغة التي تشابه فطرة الإنسان، والتي تتضمّن - قوانين - تطوُّرها، ونموّها.
من هنا، تضمن هذا الكتاب كلمات بيّنت صواب بعض ما خطّأه اللغويون، بحيثُ لا يكون التصويب، مزاجياً، ولا إعتباطياً.
