ليس بخافٍ أن أول من دعا إلى الإلفة والتراجم، والنهي عن التباغض والتشاجر والقطيعة وذات البين، هو الرسول الأكرم محمد صلوات الله عليه وعلى آله، ولإن كل مسلم لا بدَ له من جعل النبي مثاله جاء اهتمام الدكتور "حامد خفي داود" في تسخير قلمه في التقريب بين السنَة والشيعة، فجمع في كتاب واحد كل ما يشتمل على عقائد الشيعة الإمامية بعامة، وعقائد الشيعة الإثني عشرية بخاصة عن طريق أمهات الكتب الصحيحة لديهم والتي تجمع تاريخهم ومروياتهم وفقههم وآدابهم.
جاء الكتاب بعنوان "نظرات في الكتب الخالدة" قدم له السيد مرتضى الرضوي بمقدمة يسرد فيها نشاطاته ورحلاته بين الدول العربية في إطلاع ذوي الشأن من أهل السَنة على أهم كتب الشيعة وفي مقدمها كتاب الشيعة وفنون الإسلام للسيد حسن الصدر، وكتب أخرى. يلي ذلك مقدمة المؤلف ويسرد فيها الباعث على إخراج هذا الكتاب. بعد ذلك عرض لمضمون الكتاب وهو عبارة عن أبحاث ومقالات للمؤلف كتبت في فترات مختلفة وتناولت مواضيع متنوعة تدور حول ثقافة أهل البيت وهي على التوالي: 1- الإمام الصادق والمذاهب الأربعة، 2- أحاديث أم المؤمنين عائشة، 3- عبد الله بن سبأ، 4- عقائد الإمامية، 5- تفسير السيد عبد الله شبر، 6- المراجعات، 7- الصحابة في نظر الشيعة الإمامية، 8- بحث حول المهدي، 9- الصراع بين الأمويين ومبادئ الإسلام، 10- تحت راية الحق، 11- الشيعة الإمامية، 12- محاورة حول الإمامة والخلافة، 13- نهج البلاغة، 14- مع رجال الفكر في القاهرة وهو: حوار صريح في مختلف الشؤون الإسلامية يتبنى فكرتها أبطال هذا الكتاب بروح موضوعية تستهدف العمق والصراحة والتقريب.
