لما كان علم الفقه من أجل العلوم تقديراً، وأكثرها دراسة وتحريراً، وهو ثمرة الفنون ولبابها، ومنتهى علوم الدين وبابها، أكثر علماؤنا الأفاضل من التصنيف فيه، وأحاطوا بقول كل فقيه، ولا سيما شراح متن الأفاضل وشكر الله تعالى سعيهم فقد تفننوا في أسلوبه، واختلفوا في بسطه وتقريبه، بين مختصر لم نسمع إلا بإسمه، ومطول يهوش على المبتدئ فهمه.
وقد اشتهر منها لتدريس المبتدئ، وبحث المتوسط والمنتهى، شرح العلامة عبد الله بن قاسم بن مفتاح رحمه الله، المسمى "المنتزع المختار من الغيث المدرار" مع ما علق عليه، وأضيف من الحواسي إليه، ولكنه لما حوى كثيراً من المذاهب والخلافات، وما يؤمل وقوعه على أندر الإحتمالات استغرق على الطالب الوقت الطويل، فلم يتمكن من إكماله إلا القليل.
وطالما سمعت من ذوي الألباب، لهجهم بمسيس حاجة الطلاب إلى شرح مختصر لطيف، يليق بطلبة العلم الشريف، جليل الفوائد قريب المقاصد، ليس بالوجيز المخل، ولا بالطويل الممل.
ولذلك انتدبنى لهذا الموضوع، وجد على في نجاح المشروع جماعة من أهل العلم والعمل، دأبهم السعي لإصلاح كل خلل فأجبتهم متجشما صعوبة هذا العمل الخطير، وأقبلت عليه سائلاً من الله تعالى التيسير، عملاً بقوله تعالى: ﴿إِنْ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا الْإِصْلَاحَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِي إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُ(88)﴾.
ولهذا فإني قد أمعنت النظر في الإطلاع، وبذلت غاية المستطاع في إتقان التهذيب وإحكام الترتيب، وقد قسمت الكتاب إلى قسمين القسم الأول في العبادات من إبتداء الكتاب إلى آخر كتاب الحج، والقسم الثاني في المعاملات المحضة والمشوبة ببعض العبادات، من كتاب النكاح إلى آخر كتاب السير، وبينت في القسمين عدد الفصول، تقريباً للمبتدئ عند التحويل إلى الوصول.
