قد روى مسلم (عن الشريد رضي الله عنه قال: ردفت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: هل معك من شعر أمية بن أبي الصلت شيء؟ قلت نعم قال: - هية فأنشدته بيتاً فقال: هيه ثم أنشدته بيتاً فقال: هيه حتى أنشدته مئة بيت).
وروى الترمذي عن جابر بن سمرة رضي الله عنه قال: جالست النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أكثر من مئة مرّة فكان أصحابه يتناشدون الشعر ويتذكرون أشياء من أمر الجاهلية وهو ساكت وربّما تبسّم معهم.
وروى الترمذي أيضاً عن أنس رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم دخل مكة في عمرة القضاء وعبد الله بن رواحة بين يديه يمشي ويقول: "خلوا بني الكفار عن سبيلهِ... اليوم نضربكم على تنزيلهِ"... "ضرباً يزيل الهام عن مقيله... ويذهل الخليل عن خليله"....
فقال له عمر: يا ابن رواحة: أبين يدي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وفي حرم الله تقول الشعر؟ قال له النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: خلّ عنك يا عمر فلهي أسرع فيهم من نَضْحِ النبل.
وروى البخاري عن البراء رضي الله عنه عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: اهجُ المشركين فإنَّ جبريل معك - قال لحسان بن ثابت.
هذا خلاصة القول في الشعر وقد لخص ذلك الإمام الشافعي في كلمة موجزة فقال: (الشعر حسنهُ حسن وقبيحه قبيح).
ولئن شاءت حكمة الباري عزّ وجلّ أن يكون ميدان تخصصي في الحياة بعيداً عن الأدب والشعر إلاّ أنه بقي بيني وبين الشعر نسباً فساقني شوقي إلى ما هو فوق طوقي واختلج في صدري ما انطلق به لساني.
