الإنسان محور هذا الكون ومركز إحداثياته وانطلاقاً من أن المعرفة الحقة طريق وحيدة للوصول إلى إنسانيتنا وشروط أساس لبلوغنا مرتبة الخلافة وقد أدان ربنا جل جلاله التقليد والتبعية ودعانا إلى قراءة ما هو مسطور ومنشور بعين واعية وبكل أدوات الحاضر وجعل هذه الدعوة فرض عين فقال" (أفلم يسيروا في الأرض فينظروا كيف كان عاقبة الذين من قبلهم). ومن هنا جاءت دعوتنا إلى احترام الأباء والتحرر من الآبائية.
وهذا شعور بدأ يتكون في العالم الإسلامي والقرآن يدعون إلى ذلك بإبرازه موضوع الآباء كمعيق للنمو والتحرر الفكري حيث كان برهان أقوام الأنبياء لرفض دعوة الأنبياء. ويقول محمد إقبال رحمه الله إن التفكير الفلسفي ليس له حد يقف عنده فكلما تقدمت المعرفة وفتحت مسالك لفكرة جديدة أمكن الوصول إلى آراء أخرى. ونقول نحن إن الأفكار الجديدة وليدة قراءة واعية مستمرة. وبعد هاتين المقولتين يمكننا أن نتساءل هل ما يقدمه الكتاب دعوة إلى القراءة أم دعوة إلى حرية التعبير أم دعوة إلى الحوار أم دعوة إلى تجاوز القيود التي طوقت التفكير وحبسته في حيز رسمه لنا الآباء أم دعوة إلى الإبحار في أفق معرفية جديدة أم إيشاح الوجه الآخر للمدلولات بدءاً من خلق الذرة إلى خلق الكون بهذا التنسيق والانسجام أم كل ذلك مجتمعاً بالاعتماد على الرؤى الفلسفية واللغوية واللغوية واللسانية والعلم التجريبي من خلال قراءة معمقة يقوم بها الوعي البشري الذي أصبح قادراً على التعقل والاختيار ضمن منهج رسمه لنا رب العزة جل جلاله وأبلغنا سبله من خلال الرسل ولا أقصد بالرسل هنا الأنبياء المكلفين بالتبليغ وإنما كل الظواهر التي تعطي الدلالة على وحدانية الله.
وقد قسم المؤلف الكتاب إلى أربعة أبواب وقد كان من أبرز العناوين التي دخلت هذه الأبواب هي: حرية الرأي بين التفكير والتعبير، الله جل جلاله كيف فهمناه وكيف يجب أن نفهمه، القرآن الكريم بين التفسير والتأويل، قضية الإنسان وجوداً واعياً، قضية الخلق من الذرة إلى الكون، الأرض ودورة الحياة، خلق الإنسان، النفس، الروح، ما بعد حياة الدنيا، الحشر والحساب...
