لا شك أن للآداب مكانة عالية ومركزاً مرموقاً حتى إنها تعد من الفروض التي أوصانا الله سبحانه وتعالى بها، والآداب للبشر أسلوب حياة وثقافة وتربية, بحيث تنسجم مع جميع تفاصيل شخصية الإنسان السوي المستقيم، إن المعيار الذي يقوّم به الناس الفرد السلوك الأخلاقي. ويجمع العقلاء والمتخصصون على أن العلاقة وطيدة جداً بين طريقة التفكير وأساليب التصرف ومعالجة القضايا, وأن التفكير الصحيح هو الأساس فـي كل انطلاقة حضارية وهذا المفردات الأساسية التي ينبغي أن يدركها الإنسان، تقودنا إلى معنى الحوار الفكري بمستوياته الثلاث: داخلياً بين الأعضاء، ومع الجماعات، ومع الناس بشتى أجناسهم، والحذر من غياب الحوار الذي يؤدي إلى ركود فكري وعجز عن إنضاج المفاهيم الحضارية فـي أذهان الأفراد، بالإضافة إلى سوء الفهم بين المجموعات والمجتمعات الأمر الذي يؤدي إلى غياب الثقة وبروز العدوات بين مختلف المجتمعات.
فعلينا كدارسين وباحثين أن نعيد ترتيب الأولويات السلوكيّة الأخلاقيّة، بحيث يصبح أمراً ضرورياً لتوجيه الإنسان نحو الحضارية فـي الحياة. ومما يؤسف له، أننا عندما نختلف لا نتمثل للتوجيهات الربانية أو الأخلاقية فـي أدب الاختلاف، فبدلاً من أن يصبح الاختلاف رحمة وإثراء للآراء, يحدث التفكك والتعنت ويتحول الخلاف الفكري إلى اختلاف فـي القلوب والمشاعر.
إن التطبيق التدريجي لآداب الحوار والجدال والإقناع هو ما علَّمنا إياه رسولنا الكريم s والدرس الذي يجب أن نعيّه هو أن يكون الحوار والجدال للبناء وللاجتهاد لبلوغ مستويات أعلى من الحضارية والإصلاح.
والحوار والإقناع ليس مقتصراً على الثقافة والحياة الاجتماعية، بل إن للغة العربيّة لها نصيب كبير وذلك فـي تدريس طلابنا على أسس الحوار السليم ومفاهيم الجدال المختلفة, لذا يشتمل هذا الكتاب على تعريف شامل للحوار والجدال والإقناع, وتحديد أصول الحوار ومبادئه فـي القرآن والسنة والإجماع: ثم توضيح لأدب الحوار وأخلاقياته فضلاً عن الحديث بتوسع حول أساليب الإقناع وأسس حل المشكلات بالحوار.
