يتناول هذا الكتاب تاريخ الحضارة السريانية التي برزت في عالم الوجود منذ الألف الثالث قبل الميلاد والشعوب التي رسمت خطوط الحضارة الأولى كالأكديين والبابليين ثم الآشوريين والكلدانيين الذين حملوا مشعل الحضارة في بلاد النهرين، ومن ثم الكنعانيين والفينيقيين، أولئك الذين حملوا الأبجدية والحرف البسيط إلى العالم.
الكتاب غنيٌّ بأبوابه التي فتحها في صرح التاريخ القديم ومؤلفه هو الأستاذ إبراهيم جبرائيل صوما، وقد نشر في الأرجنتين عام 1967 تحت عنوان كثوبو دماردوتو دسوريويي، أي كتاب الثقافة السريانية، بالحرف السرياني الغربي، فيما قدّم المترجم الكتاب العام 1978 لأبناء بلدته ووضعه في تصرف الباحثين المتعطّشين لقراءة هذا التاريخ العريق المكمّل لتاريخ أبناء عمومتهم العرب الذين تعاونوا معهم في بناء الحضارة العربية الشامخة لا سيما في الترجمة أيام الدولتين الأموية والعباسية.
