الكتاب يشتمل على الأحاديث القدسية الموجودة في كتب الأحاديث التالية: الموطأ، صحيح البخاري، جامع الترمذي، سنن الإمام أبي داوود، سنن الإمام النسائي، سنن الإمام ابن ماجه. وطريقة جمع هذه الأحاديث هو الاكتفاء بذكر الحديث المكرر مرة واحدة، إذا لم تختلف فيه الروايات وإلاّ، فلا بد من ذكر الرواية الأخرى، وقد أُخذ شرح هذه الأحاديث من شرح العلامة القسطلاني لصحيح البخاري، إلى جانب ذلك تمَّ الرجوع، في شرح بعض الأحاديث، إلى كتب التفسير، وكتب اللغة وغيرها، وقد اشتمل الكتاب على أربعمائة حديث تم تقسيمها إلى مجموعات، كل مجموعة تشير إلى أحاديث تتصل بها، وتدخل تحتها، وقد تم ذكر رقم أول كل حديث، فما على القارئ إلا أن يعرف المجموعة التي تتصل بالحديث المطلوب، ثم يبحث عنه في دائرة ضيقة.
