Book Description
هذا الكتاب باكورة أعمال المنفلوطي، وكان، في الأصل، مقالات نشرها في صحيفة "المؤيد" أسبوعيّاً بعنوان "أسبوعيّات"، ثم بعنوان "النظرات"، ابتداءً من السنة 1907م؛ ولمّا اشتهرت هذه المقالات جمعها مع غيرها ممّا كان يكتبه في الصحف والمجلات، ومما كتبه من الرسائل ولم ينشر، وما نظمه من المقطّعات والقصائد.
ويبدأ الكتاب الذي يقع في ثلاثة أجزاء بمقدمة طويلة، هي عبارة عن جواب كتبه لمعجبين سألوه كيف يكتب رسائله علّهم يستطيعون الإقتداء به؛ وليس فيها شيء عن المواضيع التي طرقها في كتابه، فمقدّمته أشبه بأن تكون مقالاً من المقالات التي يتضمَّنها الكتاب؛ ومقالاته مختلفة المضامين تتنوّع بين الإجتماعية والسياسية والأدبية مصوّراً بها أحوال المجتمع في بؤسه وشقائه وإنحطاط أخلاقه، فكثر عنده التحدّث عن الفضائح البيتية، والخيانات الزوجية، متأثراً بأخبار الهموم والأحزان ومواقف البؤس والشقاء، كما في مقالته "الكأس الأولى"، و"الدفين الصغير"، و"الإنتحار" ويظهر أنّ أخبار البؤساء والهموم والأحزان كانت تعجبه كثيراً وتُبكيه أحرّ بكاء كما يقول.
ومن هنا فقد سرد في أربع صفحات في مقدمة نظراته أسماء عدد كبير ممّن نُكبوا وتألّموا او عاشوا في شقاء؛ وتغلب على مقالات النظرات الصبغة الأخلاقيَّة، والدعوة إلى الإصلاح الإجتماعي، ولعلّه كان متأثراً في ذلك بأستاذه الشيخ "محمد عبده".
وفي النظرات أيضاً بعض المقالات هي أقرب إلى الفنّ القصصيّ، إذ أتت بشكل حوادث وقعت أو قصص تخيَّلها، وفيها أيضاً فصول سقيمة الفكرة كأخبار الإنتحارات، والخيانات، والأعمال الشائنة كما في "مدرسة الغرام"، و"الملاعب الهزليّة"؛ وفيها أيضاً أبحاث إسلاميّة ترمي إلى الدفاع عن الدين وتخليصه من الشوائب، داعياً إلى الإصلاح من باب الدين لا من باب الفلسفة؛ واشتهر المنفلوطي بسلاسة أسلوبه وطلاوته، وبأسلوبه الأخّاذ وبيانه الساحر، وإبتعاده من التكلّف.
