يعالج هذا الكتاب جانباً من جوانب التربية في حياة الإنسان ألا وهي التربية الإجتماعية من خلال تقديمه لنموذج تربوي واقعي، هو "التربية الإجتماعية في فكر الإمام الغزالي" بوصفه نموذجاً إجتماعياً وتربوياً مثالياً في مجال تربية الفرد تربية إجتماعية سليمة ومتوازنة تشمل جوانب شخصية الفرد جميعها، وتهيؤه للحياة القادمة من خلال إكسابه العادات والإتجاهات والأنماط السلوكية اللازمة لنمو شخصيته الإجتماعية.
يعتمد الكاتب في دراسته على مؤلفات الإمام الغزالي وخاصة كتابه " إحياء علوم الدين" وترجع أهمية هذا المصدر للبحث في أنه يعالج كافة القضايا الإجتماعية والتربوية التي تهم الأفراد والجماعات على حد سواء، إذ نظر الغزالي إلى الفرد والأمة فحلل النفس وحلل المجتمع، وقنن الأخلاق والقيم، ثم إن الغزالي في كتابه "إحياء علوم الدين" رصد الظواهر الإجتماعية والخلقية فبين الضار والنافع منها، أما المؤلفات الأخرى مثل "المنقذ من الضلال" وغيرها فهي لا تقل أهمية عن كتاب إحياء علوم الدين بما تحتويه من آداب إجتماعية وتربوية ساعدت الكاتب في بيان نماذج التربية الإجتماعية عند أبي حامد الغزالي.
تبدو أهمية دراسة فكر الإمام الغزالي من كونه يسعى إلى تنمية العقيدة والولاء لله سبحانه وتعالى، فتربية الفرد على الإخلاق الحسنة، والعمل على تحقيق السعادة للإنسان من خلال العلم والعمل وتزكية النفس، وتحقيق الأخوة بين أبناء الأمة الواحدة، وتعديل سلوكه وتهذيب انفعالاته، كلها مرتبطة بالإيمان، ومعيار السلوك عنده هو الكتاب والسنة، فكل سلوك يوافقهما هو سلوك حسن، وإن كان غير ذلك فهو سلوك قبيح، أي أن الغزالي اهتم بكافة أشكال السلوك للفرد سواء المتصلة بربه وبنفسه أو المتصلة بالناس الآخرين.
يتوجه هذا الكتاب إلى الآباء، والمعلمين، وكل من هو في موقع المسؤولية، إذ يبصرهم بالآداب السلوكية الواجب اتباعها وأخيراً يفيد طلاب العلم إذ أنه يقدم أنموذجاً هاماً في السلوك الإسلامي، فيصبحون أكثر دراية بما في تراثهم من أنماط تربوية قد يتخيرون منها الخط الصالح لهم ...
