يرد الكثير من الأفكار والنظريات، والمذاهب في المجال الفني العربي لكن أحداً لم يعمد إلى معالجتها، مما أفسح المجال للبعض الذي يتحلى بعدم المسؤولية بالترويج لها بداعي الاستغلال حيناً، وبداعي التوجيه السيء حيناً آخر، حتى كادوا أن يفرطوها ويورطوا الحركة الفنية النامية فيها وفوزي القش جال هذا الموقف، وبدافع من اقتناعه ومن حرصه الشديد على الثقافة العربية التي هي بالفعل ركيزة من ركائز بقائنا. عمد في كتابه هذا إلى مناقشة تلك الأفكار بصبر وأناة للكشف عما تنطوي عليه من ضعف، ولاستدراك الضرر المتسبب عنها ولتطمين الفنانين وغير الفنانين على ما كان مركوزاً في فطرهم من اقتناعات، كما أنه عرض عن طريق المفارقة والمقارنة وجهة نظره في العمل الفني، وهي ليست، كما يقول، بدعة ابتدعها، ولكنه استقراها من خلال مراقبة الأعمال الممتازة.
