إن من فضل القرآن على سائر الكتب السماوية أنه أنزل على أحرف متعددة وقراءات مختلفة تيسيراً على الأمة ورحمة بها، ولما كان الأساس في فهم هذه الأحرف وتذوُّق تلك القراءات هو توجيهها ومعرفة مواقع الإعراب فيها، فقد اتجهت خواطر بعض المؤلفين على كثرة تنوعهم وتعددهم أن يشيروا في كتبهم إلى هذا العلم الجليل دون أن يفردوا له بحثاً شاملاً أو يخصوه بتأليف جامع لكل القراءات المتواترة مما جعل مأخذه شاقاً على الطالبين عسيراً على الناشئين.
لهذه وحده قام الكاتب بتأليف مؤلَّف خاص بهذا العلم منتفعاً فيه بما تناثر في بعض المؤلفات المختلفة وبما تلقاه عن أساتذته كي يوفر عليهم وعلى المسلمين الذين يعنون بعلوم القرآن مؤونة البحث ومشقة الرجوع إلى الكثير من الكتب المطولة، بتقديم وإخراج هذا الكتاب، وقد أسماه بــ"طلائع البشر في توجيه القراءات العشر".
