يسلط كتاب الدكتور السامرائي عن الأب أنستاس الكرملي أضواء كاشفة على علم من أعلام النهضة بعامة والنهضة اللغوية بخاصة. ويسجل هذا الكتاب مشاركة الأب الكرملي في الدراسات اللغوية، وعنايته بالفصحى والعامية مع التركيز على التطور اللغوي التاريخي.
إلى جانب هذا يتناول بإسهاب سيرته وثقافته وإنتاجه وأسلوبه في الكتابة، كما يعرج على مجالسه الفكرية الأسبوعية التي كانت تضم الأدباء والمفكرين والباحثين.
كما وعالج السامرائي دور الأب في المعرب والدخيل، والدور الهام الذي لعبه في الحياة اللغوية من خلال مجلة "لغة العرب" التي كانت من أمهات المجلات العربية في النصف الأول من القرن العشرين، وكذلك من خلال كتابه الهام "نشوء اللغة العربية ونموها واكتمالها".
والجدير بالذكر أن مكتبة الأب العامرة أهديت سنة 1949 إلى مديرية الآثار العامة في العراق، ومكتبة الدكتور السامرائي أهديت إلى مجمع اللغة العربية الأردني سنة 2001 أي هذه السنة... فشكل واضع البحث مع الأب موضوع البحث رافدين فكريين يصبان في بحر الثقافة العربية، وجسداً رمزين للعطاء اللامحدود في عالم التهافت على الماديات.
