من قصيدته الموسومة بـ (أرق) والتي يفتتح بها الشاعر المجموعة نقرأ: "أليس هناك من يسمع؟ / تعب الليلُ من رفقة الشمع / ولم يفطن اللهب / أين ذهب الصمت نديم الغياب؟ / في أيّ نافذةٍ توارى الكلام / ومال غصنُهُ؟ / متى تبخّر النعاس وغطس / في ضباب آتٍ من البحر؟ (...)".
