يغطي هذا الكتاب مفردات موضوع الفسلجة الحيوانية. وقد تم التطرق في معظم فصول الكتاب إلى الفعالية الوظيفية في مختلف المجاميع الحيوانية، ويضم أحد عشر فصلاً شمل الفصل الأول على مقدمة تضم مجالات علم الفسلجة والعلاقات التطورية بين الحيوانات ونشوء النوع والتغير الفسلجي. وشمل الفصل الثاني موضوع التغذية والثالث التنفس فأنواعه مع تأثير مختلف العوامل على الفعالية التنفسية، أما الفصل الرابع فيتضمن الدوران وأنواع القلوب في حين شمل الفصل الخامس الابراز وأنواع الفضلات وأعضاء الابراز وآليات تنظيم الكلية. ولقد تم التطرق إلى التوازن الأوزموزي والأيوني في الفصل السادس والتأثير الفسلجي لدرجات الحرارة في الفصل السابع، في حين تضمن الفصل الثامن فسلجة العضلات بأنواعها وآليات التقلص العضلي وشمل الفصل التاسع فسلجة الجهاز العصبي والعاشر فسلجة الغدد الصم وآليات عمل الهرمونات والتنظيم الهرموني في الفقريات واللافقريات، والفصل الحادي عشر فسلجة التكاثر. كما تضمن الكتاب معجماً بالمفردات المستعملة لمساعدة الطالب على فهم بعض المصطلحات عند مراجعته للكتب الأجنبية وكذلك قائمة بالمصادر الأجنبية والعربية.
