تشكل العلاقات الإجتماعية العالم المرجعي الذي تمتع منه "نوال النمر" في مجموعتها القصصية "إليك خذيني" ، فترصد جملة من العلاقات المتشابكة، المتعددة الأطراف، المختلفة الأنواع، وتبرز منها منظومات قيمية سائدة في المجتمع الذي تنتمي إليه، وبهذا يمكن تصنيفها وفقاً للمحتوى بأنها تقليدية، جعلت القاصة من القول المنطوي على محاكاة الواقع قولاً قابلاً للفهم والإستيعاب، وذلك عبر تسلسل في القص يقود إلى اتساق يربط بين البداية والنهاية في متن نصي قائم على حبكة متينة، فهي تروي وترتب الوقائع والأحداث، من دون أن تجعلها تنفصل عن الشخوص، تفسر من خلالها إقدام ابطالها على القيام بسلوك ما. وعليه، نقع في هذه المجموعة على قصص عديدة إجتماعية وواقعية تتكىء ثيماتها على بيئة محددة محلية وتقليدية، تبدو فيها إهتمامات الشخوص وتطلعاتها وأحلامها وأفكارها، وعالمها الداخلي، وموقعها الإجتماعي، ومنزلتها عند الآخرين، وعلاقاتها بالمحيط. ففي القصة المعنونة "شمعة أمل" تعالج المؤلفة طاهرة تأخر سن الزواج، واضطرار الفتاة إلى الزواج من رجل أرمل أو مطلق، ولديه عدد من الأطفال، وكيف يمكن توقع حياة أسرية على هذا الشكل، بالنسبة لفتاة تحلم بالحب وعيش حياة رومانسية، وإذ بها أمام واقع آخر، عليها التلاؤم معه "فكرت كثيراً في هذا الوضع الذي وضعت فيه نفسي، وأخذت أتخيل حياتي كيف أرغب أن تكون، وأفكر كيف أصل إلى حياة زوجية سعيدة إذا قدر الله لي، أو أخرج بأقل الأضرار ..."، وبهذا المعنى تقول المؤلفة أن الحياة الإنسانية ما هي إلا خلاصة الظروف، والعادات، والتقاليد، والأعراف، فجاءت القصص إطاراً متنوعاً حاضناً لأحداث شاخصة حارة ودرامية في بعض محطاتها. وقد نجحت المؤلفة في اختيار كلماتها وتعبيراتها بدقة بالغة وفهم حاذق، وهذا ما نجد له أكثر من تجل في صياغة النصوص وكتابة العناوين: وهي: القصة الأولى: رد عمري، القصة الثانية: شمعة أمل، القصة الثالثة: إليك خذيني، القصة الرابعة: حكايات بنت اسمها نرجس، والقصة الخامسة: إنكسار قلب.
