خالد مأمون المسحور بالعوالم المتضادة، الحائر بين الحركة والسكون لا يعرف طبيعة وظيفته التي نالها عبر إعلان غامض، لكنه يمضي مجروراً وراء المقارنة بين عالمي نبيل العدل رئيسه في العمل، والأستاذ فخري لاعب الشطرنج البارع. رحلة يقرر بعدها العودة إلى ما يألفه لكن عالمه كان قد انهار في تلك الأثناء، بدأ معلمه فخري رحلته إلى الجنون، واقتحم "العاديون" المقهى المحرم عليهم. لا يجد خالد في انتظاره سوى صديقه لطفي زاده الجالس فوق أطلال حياة.
ياسر عبد الحافظ صحفي وروائي يعمل نائباً لرئيس تحرير جريدة "أخبار الأدب" صدرت روايته الأولى "بمناسبة الحياة" عن دار ميريت في طبعة أولى عام 2005 وطبعة ثانية عام 2007، ووصلت إلى القائمة الطويلة لجائزة البوكر العربية في دورتها الأولى.
