إن شعر هؤلاء العمالقة هو الذي وصل القلوب العربية في مجاهل القرون السود بخيوط إلهية غير منظورة حتى استطاعت أن تتعارف وتتآلف وتتحالف، ثم تسعى لتعود أمة كما كانت، وتقوى لتصبح دولة كما يجب أن تكون... خلّدوا الشعر فخلّدهم الشعر وحققوا مجد القافية فكانت هي أمجادهم فذهبوا... ولكن مجدهم سيظل باقياً، وقافيتهم أبقى من أن تنال منها عوامل النسيان أو تذهب روعتها يد الأزمنة.
إن هذه النخبة من عباقرة العلم والأدب ثروة من ثروات الأمة العربية لذلك يحاول المؤلف في هذا الكتاب إلقاء الضوء على سيرتهم الذاتية، ومجمل أعمالهم الفكرية للوقوف على تراثهم الفكري الذي كان بحراً من العلم.
