ترعرع أرثور في هولندا في كنف عائلة محبة لم تخفِ يوماً عنه أنه ولد في لبنان وتم تبنيه في أوائل الحرب اللبنانية. ولكن السؤال عن هوية والديه الطبيعيين وعن ظروف تخليهما عنه بقي يشغله منذ الطفولة. فقرر، فور انتهاء دراسته الجامعية، المجيء الى لبنان للبحث عن جذوره. عاش وعمل في لبنان منذ ثلاث سنوات، ولم يوفر وسيلة لبلوغ هدفه. عرفته هذه المغامرة الى العديد من الحالات المماثلة لحالته، ونتج عنها فيلم وثائقي عام 2004، وهذا الكتاب، الذي صدر باللغة الهولندية عام 2006، وأصبح اليوم أخيراً في متناول قراءة اللغة العربية.
كتاب صادق ومؤثر، قصة إنسان تخطى المصاعب والمتاعب بحثاً عن ماضيه، يقيناً منه أنه السبيل الوحيد لإيجاد المستقبل. وهذا الإنسان هو أرثور بلوك صحافي هولندي جذوره لبنانية من مواليد 1976. بعد تخرجه في معهد الصحافة عام 2001، انتقل الى لبنان، حيث عمل كمراسل من الشرق الأوسط لصحيفة هولندية. تزوج عام 2004 من فتاة لبنانية، وعاد الى هولندا. يعمل منذ ذلك الحين كمراسل لدى البرلمان لإحدى وكالات الأنباء المحلية، وبتايع نشر مقالات عن الشرق الأوسط في الصحف الهولندية. صدرت له 4 كتب باللغة الهولندية، وهو الآن أستاذ محاضر في معهد الصحافة في أوترشت.
