يعد هذا الكتاب أول كتاب باللغة العربية يتناول تكنولوجيا الواقع الإفتراضي... ليعرف بها... وينبه إلى أهميتها في كافة مناحي الحياة... ويدعو إلى ضرورة الأخذ بها في المجال التعليمي.
ويتكون هذا الكتاب من أربعة أبواب كالتالي: الباب الأول: بعنوان "ماهية تكنولوجيا الواقع الإفتراضي" ويتكون من ثلاثة فصول، الفصل الأول تناول التعريف بتكنولوجيا الواقع الإفتراضي، في حين تناول الفصل الثاني تكنولوجيا الواقع الإفتراضي من حيث إشكالية المصطلحات الخاصة بها، ثم التطور التاريخي لها، وتعريف الواقع الإفتراضي، ثم الفصل الثالث ويتناول أنواع بيئات الواقع الإفتراضي، ثم تصنيف المؤلف لأنواع بيئات الواقع الإفتراضي.
أما الباب الثاني بعنوان "مكونات بيئات وبرمجيات الواقع الإفتراضي" وتضمن ثلاثة فصول؛ الفصل الأول تناول المكونات الأساسية لبرمجيات الواقع الإفتراضي، في حين تناول الفصل الثاني خصائص بيئات الواقع الإفتراضي كالتفاعلية، والتشاركية، والإنغماس، والحضور من بعد، والقدرة على التعديل.
أما الباب الثالث بعنوان "الواقع الإفتراضي والعملية التعليمية" ويتكون من أربعة فصول، تناول الأول منها الواقع الإفتراضي عبر شاشة الكمبيوتر Desktop VR، وتناول الفصل الثاني إرتباط الواقع الإفتراضي ببعض المتغيرات التعليمية، وتناول الفصل الثالث بعض النماذج العالمية لإستخدام الواقع الإفتراضي في التعليم، في حين تناول الفصل الرابع تدريس الواقع الإفتراضي وشمل الجامعات التي تدرس مقررات الواقع الإفتراضي، وأخيراً الباب الرابع احتوى على بحوث ودراسات في مجال تكنولوجيا الواقع الإفتراضي وإستخداماتها التعليمية.
