في روايتها "21 مارس" تكتب فاطمة البحراني عن نموذج العلاقة المجندة إجتماعياً بين الذكر والأنثى، كما في تمثيل الحالة العاطفية للمحب الموعود بالوصل، حيث يتم الإسترسال بالسّرد عبر واقع محلي أليف، تعايشه الشخصيات، في حالة من التكيف مع العادات والتقاليد التي تقود الحب في النهاية إلى مؤسسة الزواج.
اختارت الكاتبة عنواناً لروايتها "21 مارس" ليؤشر على التاريخ الذي التقى به بطلا روايتها "الغلى" وقريبها "ناصر" وهو التاريخ الذي سوف يعقدان به قرانهما بعد قصة حب جميلة مرّت بصعوبات، ناجمة عن رفض والد ناصر إقتران ابنه بفتاة قصيرة القامة "قزمة" كما يسميها، وبعد فترة وافق على الزواج لما وجد في "الغلا" من أخلاق نبيلة عرف بعدها أنها هي من ستسعد ابنه.
في المقدمة التي تفتح بها الكاتبة روايتها تشير إلى (أسرار الرواية لقرائي فقط): هذه الرواية ليست من وحي الخيال بل هي حقيقية بإختلاف الأسماء لتحافظ على خصوصية أبطال القصة جملتها ببعض أحداثٍ من وحي الخيال، ولكن هي بنسبة 80% رواية حقيقية بشتى التفاصيل وبأجمل الأحداث، بسيطة جداً في بدايتها... ولكن تنفجر في وسطها وسرّ آخر أود البوح لكم به، بعض الخواطر المكتوبة من بطل القصة للبطلة فهي من كتاباته لها وبأنامله الطاهرة...".
بهذا الخطاب قدمت لنا الكاتبة البحراني رواية عن الحب وأهله، تؤثر البساطة في التعبير ولا تسقط في التعقيد، تسمي الأشياء بأسمائها وتبتعد عن مواربة الأدب وتورباته، ولا تتوانى عن إستخدام اللغة المحكية والعبارات العامية فجاء هذا العمل أثراً روائياً فريداً، استوحت، مادته الكاتبة من الواقع، وأعادت صياغته بفنية الروائية الخبيرة بالواقع وبالأدب معاً.
