تلازم صفة الأولية هذا الكتاب ومؤلفه من أكثر من جهة. فقد كان رضا التامر أول عاملي شيعي تسوقه خطاه الى باريس ليحصل من جامعتها شهادة عالية. وكان أول المنتظمين من شيعة جبل عامل أيضاً، في سلك القضاء اللبناني-باستثناء الشرعس منه-، وهو إذذاك قضاء مختلط،فرنسي لبناني. وقد دخله المؤلف، بعد سنوات زاول فيها المحاماة، ولبث فيه نحواً من ربع قرن، بين الانتداب والاستقلال، وتدرج حتى لبغ مناصبه العليا. والتامر، أيضاً، أول سياسي لبنان (وموظف كبير) يغادر صرامة "الصورة العامة" التي يلازمها ساستنا، عادة، في مذكراتهم، فيشرك قراءه في شجونه الشخصية غير مستثن معها تقلبات حياته الزوجية.
