في كتابه "قصيدة تربوية" يقدم الكاتب الروسي والمربي (انطوان سيميو نوفتش ماكارنكو) تجربته التربوية في إصلاحية للجانحين القاصرين وكيف استطاع تحويل هؤلاء الجانحين إلى أعضاء فاعلين في المجتمع.
وفي هذا السياق يكلف الأستاذ ماكارنكو بإدارة إصلاحية تضم أطفالاً قست عليهم الحياة، فأراد أن يعيدهم إلى الحياة من جديد عن طريق إعادة بنائهم إنسانياً، فحرص على تحويل الاصلاحية من مكان يعتل فيه الأحداث، إلى مكان يهذبون فيه سلوكياً وتربوياً وعملياً. وهكذا ينخرط ماركو في لعبة الاصلاح هذه فيبدأ وزملاء له بإصلاح المبنى المهدم، والمهجور وجعله مكاناً مهيئاً للسكن، ولأنه يملك خبرة في مجال تربية الأحداث، كان يعود من وقت لآخر إلى قراءة كتب مكسيم غوركي التي أفادته ووضعت تصوراته في مكانها الصحيح. كما استمد من واقع الاصلاحية خبرة التحليل الميداني، ومواجهة العوائق وتذليلها.
وفي الكتاب يصف ماركو الجانحون الذين يعانون من شظف العيش، فالأجساد عارية، والأقدام بلا نعالوملفوفة بخرق تربطها خيوط. والطعام وجبة بسيطة تسمى (المرقة)، أما الأنواع الأخرى من الطعام فلا تقدم إلا في المناسبات، أما لماذا لم يهرب الأولاد من الاصلاحية، فلأنهم لن يجدوا في الخارج حياة أفضل.
تتوالى الأحداث حتى يتمكن ماركو من أن يحكم سيطرته على الأولاد وترويض أمزجتهم وتهذيب سلوكهم، مع المربين، وتحويلهم من عدوانيين إلى مسالمين، ومن سلبين إلى متعاونين.
