عزيز العظمة هو كاتب ومفكر وباحث سوري ولد في دمشق عام 1947 م ، حاصل على شهادة الدكتوراه في العلوم الإسلامية من جامعة أكسفورد بعد أن تخرج منها، وكذلك درس في توبنغن في ألمانيا.
درّس في جامعات بيروت والكويت ومنذ 1985م عمل كبروفيسور للعلوم الإسلامية في جامعة الشارقة.
